FUELUPGRADETitle of the Sub-Project: FUEL UPGRADE - Fuel optimizer for the modern engines Description: Tests have shown that there is a reduction in fuel (diesel) consumption of up to 15 % and a reduction of exhaust gas emissions by the use of ÖKO-SPIN during the combustion process. Furthermore, laboratory tests show modifications in fuel properties like density, boiling point and molecular structure. Any improvement of efficiency or consumption is an indicator for an improved conversion during the transient combustion process. This might include the injection process, more complete and timely conversion of the fuel and/or a faster combustion process which might be supported by reduced energy losses to the walls. On the one hand preliminary investigations point to the physical/chemical modification of the fuel and/or its additives which might be detected by applying standard methods of the chemical analysis. On the other hand the temperature profile of the combustion cycle of treated fuel could be different compared to the cycle of an un-treated one. The work packages comprehend the chemical-physical modifications the fuel diesel undergoes due to the influence of ÖKO-SPIN. The following objectives and tasks are related to this: 1. Impact of fuel based on the chemical-physical influence. 2. The effect of the modifications on the combustion. 3. Modification of the injection (reaction of nozzle and injection). 4. Mechanical process as well as the magnetic field due to ÖKO-SPIN. Beside the technical objectives, the further development of the business concept and the clarification of patent utilisation are part of FUEL UPGRADE. The partners and regional SMEs are involved in automotive cluster initiatives or in regional network structures that will support the exchange of experience in these essential automotive themes like the reduction of fuel consumption as well as the decrease of exhaust gas emissions. Moreover, collective dissemination activities (e.g in the context of meetings, professional workshops and presentation activities) will be initiated and intensified during the project period.
